Marseille completed the signing of France defender Adil Rami from Sevilla on Thursday.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, though reports said the 31-year-old signed a four-year deal after a transfer fee of about €6 million.
Rami will be reunited with Marseille coach Rudi Garcia, for whom he played three seasons at Lille, winning the Ligue 1 and Coupe de France double in 2011.
The Rami deal was completed just hours after Sevilla announced the signing of right-back Sebastien Corchia from Lille in a deal said to be worth €7.5m.
The 26-year-old is Sevilla’s fourth summer signing following the arrivals of Ever Banega, Guido Pizarro and Luis Muriel.
Corchia could be in line to replace Mariano, who reports say is set to move to Galatasaray.
Sevilla have also seen the departures of Vicente Iborra to Leicester City and Vitolo to Atletico Madrid, though club president Jose Castro says they are considering taking legal action after Vitolo for going back on his word after agreeing a new deal.
